What is the Seaport TMA?
The Seaport TMA is a non-profit organization
of private corporations, employers, developers and property managers dedicated to addressing
transportation issues, mitigating traffic and improving mobility within
the Seaport. Founded in 1994 through the cooperation of three
major area employers - Fidelity Investments, P&G/The Gillette Company,
and the Seaport World Trade Center - the Seaport TMA serves commuter and access
needs in Boston's fastest growing-area, the
South Boston Waterfront.
The Seaport TMA is the primary
source for information about transportation, construction, and
development for the South Boston Waterfront. We work closely
with the MBTA, City of Boston, Massport and other area agencies in
advocating for improved services and ensuring our members stay
informed of issues and initiatives impacting the area.
As area employers and property owners seek solutions to reducing vehicle trips and
promoting full use of the transportation network, membership in the
Seaport TMA has grown. Our 28 corporate members represent more than
18,500 commuters and a million annual visitors.
The Seaport TMA helps employees
and residents plan their commute by informing them on mass transit
options, ridesharing, bicycling and walking. In addition, we offer
assistance in starting carpools and vanpools, and offer innovative
incentive programs to promote and support alternative
transportation.

What is the South Boston Waterfront?
The South Boston Waterfront is in Boston's port and piers area,
across Fort Point Channel and below the Inner Harbor. In
addition to water-dependent industries the South Boston Waterfront
is a growing community of residences, businesses and entertainment
venues. This unique area includes a concert pavilion, New England’s
largest design center, and the Northeast’s largest convention
center among many other small and large businesses.
The Seaport TMA works to achieve effective, cost-efficient ways to
move people in and around the Seaport District, making the region
more attractive to visitors, employees and clients.
Transportation solutions for the future are being crafted today
through these collaborative efforts.
